Viagra Medication Overview – Treat Erectile Dysfunction

The makers of Viagra, Pfizer, first introduced Viagra to the public in late 1996. Since then adult male sufferers of ED (Erectile Dysfunction) from around the world have finally found a way to treat their ED simply by taking a pill thirty minutes prior to any sexual activity. Due to its minimal side effects, the effectiveness at which it works, and the ease at which one can acquire a prescription for Viagra, it has since dominated the market as the leading ED treatment option.

How Should I Take Viagra?

Viagra is dispensed in both 50mg and 100mg tablets. Your doctor will prescribe the right dosage for you. Simply take Viagra orally at least 30-45 minutes prior to any sexual activity. Viagra should not be taken daily, allow for at least 24 hours in between dosages.

How does Viagra Work?

Viagra works by inhibiting the PDE5 enzymes that control the arteries and the blood flow to the penis. When there is an abundance of these PDE5’s, it can be very difficult for the arteries that feed to the penis to open and allow free passage of blood flow into the main shaft. When these PDE5’s are inhibited by Viagra, the blood can flow more easily into the penis, allowing for a male to achieve and maintain an erection for up to 4 hours.

Side effects to Viagra Include:

Stuffy nose, headache, upset stomach, diarrhea, lightheadedness, dizziness, facial flushing (redness of the face) blurry vision, and in some rare cases a blue-hazy vision, which persisted for several hours. In very rare cases there were reports of sudden and temporary loss of vision and eyesight, which may not have been attributed to Viagra. If you experience any of the minor side effects be sure to contact your doctor. If you experience any of these rare, yet serious side effects discontinue usage of Viagra and seek medical attention right away.

Who Should Not Take Viagra?

While Viagra is safe for most men of all ages, there are certain conditions that should be discussed with your doctor prior to taking it. Men who suffer from Heart Disease, circulatory issues, low blood pressure, prostate cancer or diabetes, and those who are not deemed healthy enough for sexual activity may not be able to take to Viagra.

What Medications Interact with Viagra?

There are a few medications that can have severe interactions with Viagra. Any medications containing Nitrates cannot be taken in combination with Viagra, as they can lower the blood pressure to unsafe levels. Any medications containing Alpha-blockers also cannot be taken with Viagra, as they are unsafe when combined. Since studies have not yet been concluded on how Viagra may work with other leading ED treatments such as Cialis and Levitra, it is also unsafe to combine any of these drugs for single usage.

Do not TAKE Generic Viagra:

If you have not already heard about it all over the news, there are thousands of illegitimate and illegal online pharmacies which sell generic Viagra illegally. Never buy generic Viagra; you have no clue as to what drug you are really getting, and whether or not it is even safe to use. Since no clinical studies have been conducted on these generic and illegal brands, you never know what could happen.

Medical Notice - Do not take Cialis, Levitra or Viagra within 24 hours of each other
